Pilote de ligne, mdecin, professeur duniversit, assistant du procureur: qui est vraiment Frank Abagnale Jr.? Comment mne-t-il ce train de vie luxueux? Cest ce que linspecteur du FBI Carl Hanratty sest jur de dcouvrir. Volontairement lger, sans mort dhomme, Catch Me If You Can saventure dans le registre des escrocs raffins avec beaucoup de sophistication. Une reconstitution parfaite des annes 60 et 70, avec dcors et bande-son pimpants et aciduls, sert de cadre un rapport de force ironique et savoureux entre imposteur (Leonardo DiCaprio) et policier (Tom Hanks). Seuls points faibles: les relations de Frank avec ses parents (Christopher Walken et Nathalie Baye), un tantinet moralisatrices, et les rles fminins dcevants. Mais en multipliant les clins dil, notamment James Bond et Hitchcock, ce film intelligent et rafrachissant reste charmant, adoptant pour notre plus grand plaisir la forme dun jeu qui ne se prend jamais au srieux. --Helen Faradji
